In Memory of Father Frans Van Der Lugt, Everyone’s Brother

We mourn the death of Jesuit Frans Van Der Lugt, who was murdered in Syria on April 7th. The Dutch priest would have been 76 on April 10th. He has spent many years in Syria, where he arrived in 1966. Father Frans lived in the old centre of Homs, in the Christian neighbourhood of Bustan Al-Diwan, and during the present war decided not to leave his people on their own.
