Consecrated Life: Give testimony, in the world, for He who will come

On Saturday the 2nd of February, the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple was celebrated. The Custos, Fr. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, presided over the Eucharist, in a crowded church.
The union of sisters, invited, therefore all congregations to thank God for the gift of the Consecrated Life. Many sisters answered to the invitation. May be some wondered about the absence of some religious- who left for Nazareth to celebrate the same event- yet one also asked oneself how Saint Savior Church could have been able to hold a larger number of people.
In his homily, the Custos meditated on the roles of Simeon and Anna, but also of Mary and Joseph. Simeon and Anna, whose patient expectation was finally rewarded at the end of their lives by contemplating Jesus: « The light to lead all people to God and the glory of your people Israel».
The expectation and Holy Spirit availability «which is uncomfortable, it subverts, makes one move forward, renews», holiness amidst the world, in an apparently trivial life yet which must be testimony of the tension towards He who works for the things of His Father. These were the main topics of the Custos’ reflection.
At the end of the celebration which was said in many languages, and which reflected the different religious commitments in the territory, the assembly joined to take part at a convivial fraternal moment in the parish hall. The sisters also here witnessed another aspect of the consecrated life:
« Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity» (cf. Psalm 133).
