U.S., Russia Agree on U.N. Resolution to Disarm Syria of Chemical Weapons

The United States and Russia have reached an agreement on a draft U.N. Security Council resolution aimed at ridding Syria of its chemical weapons arsenal. The agreement, which followed weeks of deadlock, legally obliges Syria to give up its chemical stockpile. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said an “understanding” had been hammered out.
